It only took a matter of weeks for the world to change.
A global pandemic and our reactions to it have disrupted life in ways we couldn’t imagine at the beginning of the year. And now we’re in the midst of a global reset on a scale never experienced in modern human history.
After a couple of months of disruption, millions of people are wondering… When is this going to be over? When will things get back to normal?
We need to be very clear about the answers to those questions, especially if we want to remain grounded and be in service to the people around us.
Our world will never return to the way it was. Life as we knew it is forever changed.
The ways in which we interact, the ways we make and spend money, and how we choose to focus our time and attention are all in the process of becoming something new.
This is a time of metamorphosis for humanity.
It’s also a time of enormous opportunity to create wonderful changes in our lives. Yet change is a challenge. The road ahead will be bumpy for many.
People everywhere are experiencing some form of loss, both individually and communally. Loss of business. Loss of income. Loss of social interaction. Loss of routine. Loss of security.
When we lose something (or someone) significant in our lives, we often experience grief. This is important to recognize in ourselves and in those we are committed to support—our family and friends, our clients and co-workers—because grieving needs healing. So, be sure to give yourself and others ample space to experience and release any grief.
It may also be helpful to recall the five stages of the grieving process, which Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross defined in her groundbreaking research with terminally ill patients in the 1960s: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and, eventually, Acceptance.
But once we’ve acknowledged our grief and healing, then what? What do we do with our new level of acceptance and awareness? What gifts can we find in the challenges of change?
Those are the types of questions that really interest me.
When I look at the various ways in which humans have been handing the current global “pause & reset,” I think of the Kübler-Ross Change Curve™, which was also based on her research (see below).

Many people—even entire societies—are still going through the stages of Denial and Frustration about the global pandemic. Many are waiting for and counting on their politicians, governments and other institutions to define a path forward for them.
Yet, there are countless others who aren’t waiting around.
I see encouraging evidence every day of people embracing the process of change. They’re shifting their perspectives, learning new skills, and experimenting with new ideas.
As lightworkers, healers and wayshowers, we belong in this vanguard. That’s why we’re here. We’re here to show the world by our living example what we know in our hearts to be true.
Life is change and always will be.
Everything is unfolding for the highest good of everyone at all times, no exceptions.
Each of us has the power and potential—and some would say responsibility—to consciously create our own reality, moment by moment.
So, what’s next for you in this new reality? Please share your comments below. I’d love to hear from you.
